Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - The police apprehended Bali chapter head of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anak Agung Alit Wira Putra in Jakarta, Thursday morning, over swindle charges, a police spokesman reported.

"It is true that the Kadin Bali chapter chief was taken into custody at a hotel in the Kuningan area in Jakarta at 7:30 a.m. local time," Chief of the Bali Provincial Police's Public Relations Division Senior Commissioner Hengky Widjaj stated.

Widjaj revealed that the suspect was flown aboard a Citilink flight from Jakarta to Bali for interrogation.

Widjaj noted that Putra was assigned a suspect status in a swindle case concerning a permit for expanding Benoa Port in Bali.

"Shortly after arrival in Bali, the suspect will face questioning, and at 3 p.m. local time, we will divulge details of the outcome of the interrogation at a press briefing," he remarked.

The Bali Provincial Police have taken into detention Wayan Wakil and A. A. Ngurah Agung, the colleagues of ex-vice governor of Bali I Ketut Sudikerta, over alleged money laundering. The duo were charged with swindling and embezzlement of Rp150 billion in accordance with a report furnished by Alim Markus, the owner of PT Maspion Group Surabaya.

"The two suspects have been kept in custody at the Bali Provincial Police's detention center since April 10, 2019, at 6 p.m. local time for 20 days," he stated.
