By carrying out infrastructure development outside Java, there will be new economic growth centers there.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Incumbent presidential candidate Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the infrastructure development his government has undertaken outside Java Island during his last 4.5 years of administration is part of efforts to create equitable development in the country.

"By carrying out infrastructure development outside Java, there will be new economic growth centers there," he said during the final round of the presidential debate at Sultan Hotel in Jakarta on Saturday night.

In addition, to create equitable development, he said his government has also distributed a village fund which reached Rp257 trillion until 2019.

"We have transferred Rp257 trillion worth of funds to 74,900 villages from Sabang to Merauke, and from Miangas to Rote Island until 2019," he said.

The use of the village fund prioritized development projects which used materials from the villages and employed villagers as part of efforts to create new jobs, he said.

"As such, the money amounting to Rp257 trillion was circulated in the villages," he said.
