One vote can determine the future of the nation, do not abstain
Singapura (ANTARA) - Sixth Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) participated in the parliamentary and presidential elections at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore along with tens of thousands of Indonesian citizens in the neighboring country on Saturday.

SBY used his right to vote in Singapore because he is accompanying his wife who is being treated at Singapore's National University Hospital (NUH).

The former president who had served for two periods arrived at the Indonesian Embassy on Chatsworth Road at 16.30 local time, accompanied by Rocky Gerung and several other colleagues.

On that occasion, SBY said he was happy to still be able to channel his voting right even though he is abroad.

"Personally, the voting process went smoothly, and I am also happy to see the enthusiasm of our brothers and sisters, the Indonesian people with the great enthusiasm to channel their voting rights," he said.

SBY said that the spirit of Indonesian citizens in guarding Singapore's democratic festivity must be maintained, because the nation's future is in the hands of its people.

"One vote can determine the future of the nation, do not abstain," he said.

SBY said, even though she is sick, Ani Yudhoyono also continued to channel her political rights from the hospital.

"Ms. Ani is aware of the importance of her voting right. Therefore, even though she is sick, she continued to vote," he said.

SBY on the occasion also asked for a prayer for his wife's recovery.

SBY also advised that Indonesian citizens who have been registered in the permanent voter list (locally known as the abbreviation of DPT) channel their voting rights on 17 April 2019.
