"It is no issue if voting is to be re-held at polling stations that have come under the radar," he remarked in Palu on Saturday.
Wahid noted that the Palu City Election Commission had yet to obtain a report from the Election Supervisory Body or Panwaslu on the violations committed during the simultaneous voting on April 17, 2019.
"If it is substantiated that a revote is necessary, the KPU is ready to implement it," Wahid affirmed.
However, simultaneous legislative and presidential elections in Palu, Central Sulawesi Province's capital city, on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, were held in a safe and smooth manner.
The voting process has been held in line with the schedule and time decided by the KPU. Voting at refugee shelters of the earthquake, tsunami, and liquefaction natural disasters in Palu, detention centers, and prisons was held safely and smoothly.
Wahid believes that elections could be held successfully in the provincial capital owing to the participation of all parties, including the masses, that have demonstrated high levels of enthusiasm to exercise their voting rights at polling stations on the day of the 2019 election.
Voting in Palu was held at 1,075 polling stations in 46 villages of eight sub-districts.
Palu Mayor Hidayat remarked that elections in this city had been held in a safe and smooth manner.
"During the voting day, after casting my ballot at the polling station, I promptly visited several polling stations in Palu City," he noted.
Hidayat admitted to have visited polling stations until Thursday (Apr 18) at dawn.
"I had paid a visit to TPS 05 at RT03 / RW01 in Tatura Selatan Sub-district, South Palu Sub-district, on Thursday, at around 3 a.m. local time. I noticed that the KPPS officers along with the witnesses and supervisors at the TPS were apparently fatigued while fulfilling their duties and responsibilities for ensuring success of the grand party of democracy in this country," Hidayat stated.
He also lauded the people of Palu City for supporting the 2019 simultaneous legislative and presidential elections.
"We currently await the results," Hidayat stated.
"The people must wholeheartedly accept and welcome whoever garners the highest number of votes in the 2019 simultaneous elections for taking the Indonesian nation forward in the next five years," he stated.
