The UI team members constituted Pande Bagus Widyantara, Muhammad Rasyad, Idrus Fahreza, Riska Amira, Naufal Arif, and Abiyyah, Pande Bagus remarked at the UI campus, here, Tuesday.
Students from South Korea, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Singapore, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam, with novel ideas and passion, took part in the business start-up contest.
The UI Engineering students not only presented attention-grabbing and novel ideas but also stood first in the event. The students presented a revolutionary idea of turning plastic waste into filament -- the ink -- for three-dimensional printers. The six students are confident that pioneering technology can drive the economy and be a lucrative business plan.
"As students of the UI's Faculty of Engineering, we are keen to put the spotlight on innovation in application-based technology that can offer benefits to the people," Bagus remarked.
The Asian Students' Venture Forum is a contest held yearly by Korea Economic Daily, with sponsorship from KT & G.
The largest international business start-up contest in Korea, held since 2002, offers a platform to portray new-fangled ideas and appealing innovations and hold several cultural activities, social discussions, and discussions on other global economic issues.
Along with emerging the winner in the Asian Students' Venture Forum competition, four UI engineering students also made their mark at the 14th Malaysia Chem-e Car Competition 2019 in Malaysia.
The UI students in the Rhino Team comprised Muhammad Agus Setiawan and Muhammad Iqbal Abdul Rasyid from Chemical Engineering 16, Romi Putra from Metallurgy 16, and Perdianta Sembiring from Computer Engineering 16.
The team stood third in the competition held on March 29-30, 2019.
Rifelly Dewi Astuti, the UI spokesperson, remarked that the UI students' participation in different international competitions targeted to promote Indonesia, in general, and the UI, in particular, at the international higher education forums.
