"If you can build clinics, my advice is to do it in areas still facing a shortage of health services," Minister Jonan remarked in Timika on Friday.
On Thursday (May 2), Jonan and several key officials from the ESDM Ministry had the opportunity to review facilities of the Timika Mitra Masyarakat Hospital (RSMM) constructed by utilizing a PT Freeport Indonesia partnership fund to offer free health services to seven tribal residents in Mimika District.
Jonan noted that his ministry was prepared to facilitate the provision of clean water facilities for direct use by the community.
"If you build health clinics in areas facing a shortage of health care facilities, you are seeking our support for constructing clean water wells for public use. We will eventually offer aid through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Geological Agency. We will offer assistance," Jonan noted.
During a two-day work visit to Timika, Minister Jonan along several key officials, including the secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, SKK Migas head, BPH Migas head, Director General of Mineral and Coal, and several other key ESDM Ministry officials officially launched nine local community empowerment programs established by the Institute Development of the Amungme and Kamoro Community (LPMAK) and PT Freeport on Thursday (May 2) at the Papua SP4 Taruna Dormitory School, Timika.
On this Friday morning, Minister Jonan, along with his entourage, departed for the Freeport mining town in Tembagapura to get a first-hand review of the copper, gold, and silver mining activities at the Grasberg open pit and underground mining and seed processing plants at Mile 74 and others.
After conducting a review of the Freeport mining area, Minister Jonan and his entourage will return to Jakarta on Friday evening.
