We hope all airline stakeholders would prepare themselves to serve Eid-al-Fitr flights, in terms of safety, security, and services, during flights.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Transportation Ministry has decided to establish command posts at 29 domestic airports and seven international airports during the 2019 Eid-al-Fitr transportation period.

The command posts will cater to air passengers looking for assistance during the homecoming and return periods, Director General of Air Transportation at the Transportation Ministry Polana B. Pramesti noted in a written statement released on Thursday.

"We, from the Directorate General of Air Transportation, will lay emphasis on the three aspects of safety, security, and service while preparing for the 2019 Eid-al-Fitr Transportation Operation. We are ready to offer primary services to homebound travelers," she confirmed.

To ascertain thorough preparedness of the 2019 Eid-al-Fitr Transportation Operation, the Directorate General of Air Transportation will conduct a routine ramp check on necessary infrastructure and facilities to support the operations of airports and aircraft, among other factors, she noted.

Pramesti has forecast the Eid-al-Fitr homecoming flow to peak on May 31, 2019, or five days prior to the Eid-al-Fitr festivities, while return flow will peak on June 8-9, 2019, or a day or two following the festivities.

"We are upbeat that all airline stakeholders would make best preparations in terms of safety, security, and services to serve Eid-al-Fitr flights," she emphasized.

Pramesti remarked that the Directorate General of Air Transportation has spotted several issues that may pose a hindrance to smooth air transportation, including safety and security disturbance, flight fare, prepaid baggage, extreme weather, influx of air passengers, and terror threats.

As of March 2019, a total of 12 airline companies, operating 547 aircraft, are ready to serve holidaymakers. EDITED BY INE
