The flight frequency on the Surabaya-Ambon (PP) route has been increased in line with the high demand of passengers looking to board direct flights for easy travel to tourist destinations and new economic growth centers in eastern Indonesia, PT Lion Air Group Corporate Communication Strategic Danang Mandala Prihantoro stated in Thursday's release.
According to Lion Air's latest services, flight JT-890 will operate once a day, with scheduled departure from the Djuanda Airport, Surabaya, at 7:35 WIB.
The aircraft is scheduled to land at Ambon's Pattimura Airport at 12:05 WIT. Return flights to Ambon are expected at 6:20 p.m. local time and landing in Surabaya at 6:50 p.m. local time.
Prihantoro noted that Lion Air's expansion of the Surabaya-Ambon service is expected to respond to the demand of "millenial travelers" to avail a second alternative tour in Ambon City.
"The distinctive regional culture and the nuances of tranquility lend their own charm to travelers enthralled by eastern Indonesia, specifically Ambon," he stated.
Prihantoro explained that the new route in Maluku is part of Lion Air's commitment to bridging the gap between regions through air transportation while continuing to prioritize safety and comfort during flights.
Lion Air remains focused on boosting domestic and regional connectivity that is expected to offer added value to travelers and businesspersons, as the travel time from Surabaya to Ambon is an hour and 30 minutes.
Moreover, tourists from different cities from Surabaya to Ambon can continue their flights to Namlea, Tual, Saumlaki, Fak-Fak, Sorong, Makassar, Labuha, Ternate, and other cities. On the other hand, travelers from Maluku too can continue their journey to interesting destinations, such as Surabaya, Denpasar, Lombok, Kupang, Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Jakarta.
Flight JT-887, operating on the Ambon-Makassar route and departing at 1:05 p.m. local time, is expected to arrive at 1:50 p.m. local time at the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, while it will depart from Makassar at 14:50 WITA and arrive in Ambon at 5:35 p.m. local time.
This additional non-stop flight service thus makes Soekarno Hatta's route to Surabaya 13 times a day and Ambon-Makassar thrice a day.
