BNPB, through its PetaBencana.id, has been crowned as one of UNPSA 2019 winners for ensuring integrated approaches in public service institutions.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PetaBencana, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency's (BNPB's) news portal, received the United Nations Public Service Award (UNPSA), Head of the BNPB Center of Information Data and Public Relations Sutopo Purwo Nugroho stated.

"The BNPB, through its PetaBencana.id, has been named as one of the winners of UNPSA 2019 for ensuring integrated approaches in public service institutions," he noted in a written message sent to Antara in Jakarta on Tuesday.

PetaBencana.id is an online tool to produce real-time maps of urban flooding, driven by social media reporting, and has proven that crowdsourced information-sharing lowers disaster risk and aids in relief efforts.

Since its launch in December 2015, more than 361 thousand users have accessed the digital platform over 737 thousand times.

"UNPSA is an award whose representative is sent through the one-stop service at the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry," Nugroho remarked.

Nugroho stated that the BNPB was appointed to send the entry of PetaBencana.id for the UNPSA 2019. Indonesian participants not only comprised ministries and non-ministerial government institutions but also regional governments.

NPSA is a highly esteemed international recognition of excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions that result in more effectual and responsive public administration in nations across the world. Through an annual competition, UNPSA drives the role, professionalism, and visibility of public service.
