Kupang (ANTARA) -
Kupang (ANTARA) - The Kupang Branch of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) is readying its fleet of several dozen ferries to facilitate smooth inter-island crossing for passengers in East Nusa Tenggara Province during the Idul Fitri 1440 H.

"We have readied our fleet for offering Idul Fitri homecoming services," Kupang General Manager PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Branch, Burhan Zaim, told Antara in Kupang on Thursday.

Zaim remarked that this demonstrated the readiness of the Kupang Branch of ASDP to handle a surge in the number of passengers travelling back and forth during the long holidays of Idul Fitri 1440 in East Nusa Tenggara Province.

Zaim noted that the fleet will operate on various routes, such as Kupang City, the provincial capital to the regions, as well as crossings between districts in the province based on the islands.

"Hence, the ferry service for those heading home will be operating as usual in line with the schedule we have prepared," he stated.

Earlier, he had reported about several routes being closed, particularly in the western region, owing to high sea waves reaching up to seven meters.

However, currently, the ferries are already operating on all routes to serve passengers looking to travel to Flores, Sumba, Alor, Rote, and Lembata.

Zaim has ensured that his side continued to focus on passenger safety during every voyage, both during mass homecoming and crossing on ordinary days.

"The safety of passengers can be ensured by ascertaining that the load is in line with the ship's capacity. We also continue to monitor weather information from the BMKG for any changes on the field," he added.
