Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Oil and Gas Downstream Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) has ordered Pertamina to boost fuel oil supply along the Trans Sumatra toll road, particularly on its section from Lampung to Palembang in South Sumatra.

The decision was made after reports were received on scarcity of premium oil experienced in the Mesuji and Tulangbawang area, according to information obtained here on Friday.

Head of BPH Migas Fansrullah Asa has directed Pertamina to act promptly in solving the problem and stepping up supply.

The agency, as the task force in the energy and mineral resources sector for Eid al-Fitr, has instructed Pertamina to ready mobile fuel dispensers and fuel reserves at 15 selling points along the toll road covering Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung-Palembang.

Furthermore, state-run oil firm PT Pertamina will increase its motorists to deliver fuel oil along the toll and non-toll road, especially in the Mesuji and Tulangbawang areas.

The agency has appealed to the public to refuel their vehicles prior to entering the Lampung-Palembang toll road.

Pertamina has also drawn attention to a likely spike in the demand for fuel oil on June 8-9 when holidaymakers return to cities after the Eid al-Fitr festivities. The company will increase its supply in the Cikampek section of the Trans Java toll road and the Palembang-Bakauheni section of the Trans Sumatra toll road.
