Jakarta (ANTARA) -
A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck Pangandaran district, West Java province, on Friday evening, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The epicenter of the quake, which struck at 05.27 p.m. local time, was in the Indian Ocean some 92 kilometers southeast of Pangandaran district at a depth of 62 kilometers, Head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center Rahmat Triyono said.

The tremor was felt in Cilacap (Central Jaya), Kulonprogo and Bantul (Yogyakarta) at II-III on the Merchalli Modified Intensity (MMI) and Kebume (Central Java) at II on MMI.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The quake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami, Rahmat said.
