Jakarta (ANTARA) - Political Researcher of the Indonesian Institute Arfianto Purbolaksono suggested that elected presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin can prioritize members of the Indonesia Working Coalition (KIK) to fill ministerial posts in the cabinet.

"It is appropriate for Jokowi-Ma'ruf to prioritize coalition members to occupy posts in the cabinet. This is very important, taking into account the work that has been carried out by the coalition parties for almost 10 months," Purbolaksono, also called Anto, stated on Saturday.

Anto gauged that since the results of the 2019 legislative election and recapitulation were determined, maneuvers were made by political parties, who were members of the Prabowo-Sandi coalition, such as the Democratic Party and PAN, to dock with the Jokowi-Amin coalition.

He opined that it was normal if the two parties will dock with the Jokowi-Amin coalition, in the hopes of getting a position in the cabinet in future.

However, Anto reminded that the 2019 election was held simultaneously, so the work process of the campaign team to ensure the party wins in the legislative and presidential elections also ran simultaneously.

"Hence, determining the formation of seats in the cabinet must be proportional to the vote acquisition of political parties in the 2019 legislative election," he remarked.

He cited the example of PDI Perjuangan, Golkar, PKB, and Nasdem deserving more than two seats in the cabinet due to their vote in the 2019 legislative election.

He pointed to a shift in the party machinery of the four political parties, and besides winning votes in the electoral district, they also moved to make Jokowi-Ma'ruf victorious.

"The channeling of interests of non-party volunteers, in addition to political parties, that cannot be denied is the volunteer work to make the Jokowi-Maaruf Amin pair victorious. As was done in the 2014 Election, volunteers must also be considered to support Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin's cabinet work for the next five years," he stated.

Moreover, he highlighted the importance of the anti-corruption commitment for the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin pair to determine members of the cabinet.

He noted that political parties getting seats in the cabinet are also expected to chose representatives, who have a clean track record that is devoid of corrupt practices.
