Kendari (ANTARA) - Female activists representing various women's solidarity groups and non-governmental organizations in Indonesia will join a national conference, due to be held in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi Province, on July 21-27 to enhance the spirit of women's solidarity.

"This conference is aimed at developing a national common perception on how to fight for women's rights and to enhance the spirit of women's solidarity," Head of the Kendari Women's Solidarity Organization's Executive Board Sarni Marwati said here on Sunday.

Southeast governor and Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister are expected to attend a discussion to deliver their views on Indonesian women's condition, and how the provincial and central governments protect their rights, she said.

Among the crucial issues that will be discussed at the national conference are women's rights in agriculture, protection of female migrant workers, and women's empowerment on alternative economy, she said.

This week-long conference will showcase exhibitions, public discussions, workshops, movie screenings, and art performances, and poetry recitation, she added.

The Indonesian Women's Solidarity Organization which has existed since 1990 has consistently been fighting for women's rights at local, national, and international levels. .
