"Cooperative units in Indonesia must stay abreast of the developments in digital technology. Under the framework of total cooperative reform efforts initiated in the era of industrial revolution 4.0, cooperative units in Indonesia must start applying digital technology," Sukri stated here on Wednesday.
Currently, only 25-30 percent of cooperative units in the country have applied digital technology.
"The competition is inevitable in domestic and foreign markets. I heard that Malaysian cooperative units will invest in Indonesia," he stated.
Sukri pointed out that Dekopin has attempted to integrate the operations of all cooperative units nationwide and transform it into a strong capital source to compete with major firms.
Head of Central Java's Cooperative, Small- and Medium-Scale Enterprises office Ema Rachmawati called on the province's cooperative units to prepare themselves, as the era of digital technology is unavoidable.
"We observed that they have veered toward digital application though not fully applying it. Only one or two cooperative units in Pekalongan and Rembang. All members of cooperative units can do business with other members," she noted.
This year, 19 cooperatives in Central Java will be ready to apply digital system, especially those under the coordination of the province's Cooperative, Small- and Medium-Scale Enterprises office.
