Palembang (ANTARA) - The weather in Palembang City is expected to be cloudy with bright spells on the first day of the Motocross Grand Prix world championship series held at the Palembang OPI Mall Circuit on Saturday.

According to official information from the Geophysical Meteorology and Climatology Agency, the weather will be cloudy with bright spells until noon.

At mid-day until afternoon, some locations in Palembang City are forecast to potentially receive rain.

Such condition is similar to that experienced a day prior to the MXGP, where the rain had drenched the Jakabaring area or where the motocross circuit is located.

The air temperature is estimated to range between 24 and 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity level of 60-70 percent.

For early warning, the BMKG has recommended several districts to remain on alert to the potential of moderate to heavy rains that can also be accompanied by lightning and short duration of strong winds in the afternoon until night.

The locations are in the Ogan Komering Ilir region, Ogan Komering Ulu Timur, and Ogan Komering Selatan, Lahat, and Banyuasin.

In the meantime, MXGP activities will commence at 8:00 Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB), thereby giving opportunities to the participants of the Governor Herman Deru Cup National Championship to test the track until 10:40 WIB.

This will be followed by trial activities for MX1 participants (MXGP) and MX2, specifically the test run from 10:45 WIB to 11:15 WIB.

The national championship is scheduled to begin at 12:35 WIB, while for MX2, it will start at 15:00 WIB and MXGP at 14:00 WIB.
