"Alhamdulillah (God be praised), operations at the Bali Airport are running normally," airport management company PT Angkasa Pura I's Public Relations Manager Awaluddin noted in a text message here on Tuesday.
According to information received from the Region IV Airport Authority Office, Ngurah Rai Airport can operate normally, and more checks have been conducted, of both the air and land side facilities, so as to ascertain that all are in normal condition and able to serve.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the earthquake had no potential to trigger a tsunami.
On Tuesday (July 16), a tectonic earthquake hit the area of the South Indian Ocean of Bali-Nusa Tenggara at 07:18:35 local time.
Head of BMKG's Earthquake and Tsunami Center, Rahmat Troyono, expounded that the results of analysis indicated that the earthquake's epicenter was located at coordinates 9.08 degrees south latitude and 114.55 degrees east longitude, or precisely located at a depth of 104 kilometers below sea, at a distance of 80 kilometers south of Kota Negara, Jembrana Regency, Bali Province.
The quake's tremors were reportedly felt in Badung, Nusa Dua, Denpasar, Mataram, Central Lombok, West Lombok, Banyuwangi, Karangkates, Sumbawa, East Lombok, North Lombok, Jember, and Lumajang. No reports had yet been received of the damage caused by the earthquake. The modeling results indicated that the earthquake has no potential to trigger a tsunami

Rahmat remarked that as of 7:50 a.m. local time, the BMKG monitoring results had not shown any aftershock activity.
