Head of Bank Indonesia's Riau Islands office Fadjar Majardi said that as many as 12 economic actors from the two neighboring countries met with owners of 27 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"The meeting between 27 entrepreneurs promoted by Bank Indonesia with 12 potential buyers from Johor and Singapore was arranged by Bank Indonesia's Representative Office in Singapore," Fadjar said.
The Business Matching forum was expected to help SMEs get buyers in developing their businesses.
In addition to business meetings between Bank Indonesia-assisted entrepreneurs and Singaporean as well as Malaysian businessmen, the Riau Iislands Syariah and Halal Festival also includes needs matching, bringing together charity providers and mosques which require donations through the launch of Charity QR, a QR code to simplify digital charity.
"Through this Charity QR , the community can submit donations to mosques that have worked together through smart phones," said Fadjar.
At the event, Bank Indonesia also held a Sharia Economic Forum, with three series of seminars with the theme of Islamic finance in the era of digital economy and finance, creating industrial and commercial halal areas in the Riau Islands Province, and doing business in the Islamic economic era. Halal means permissible according to Islamic law.
After the provincial level, similar festivals will also be held at the district level in Sumatra, namely in Palembang on 3-5 August 2019 and the peak, the Indonesia Syariah Economic Festival at the end of the year in Jakarta.
In Riau Islands, the festival takes the theme "Strengthening the Sharia Economy in Encouraging Economic Growth in Riau Islands".
