"Before the accidental discovery, our team had just coordinated with Balawista on Kudeta Beach. He sought permission to teach surfing and accidentally saw a body floating at about 50 meters from the shoreline," Daily Executive Head of the Denpasar Search and Relief Office (Basarnas), I Made Junetra, stated on Friday (July 26).
MMM's body was found by the Combined SAR Team approximately one kilometer north of the Double Six Beach's waters.
The Jordanian's body was found by one of Balawista's personnel while teaching surfing. A few minutes into teaching surfing, the Balawista personnel found the body floating around the coastal waters.
The search was also conducted by the Kuta Water Police Team, led by Head of Pol Air Kuta, I Wayan Kesuma Jaya. He noted that MMM was far from the scope of Balawista's observation.
"According to information from Balawista, when the incident took place at (Double Six Beach), MMM was swimming in an area that was far from monitoring," Jaya revealed.
The Joint SAR Team had earlier conducted sweeping operations through the land section that was then followed by a search along the shoreline, the waters, and also aerial searches.
On Thursday (July 25), MMM was believed to be swimming at Double Six Beach. At 5 p.m. local time, the SAR Team received information that MMM had not returned.
The Joint SAR Team initiated search operations and found MMM's body on Friday, at 3:20 p.m. local time.
The SAR team then retrieved MMM's body, found adrift in the waters, and took it to Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar.
