Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's mixed doubles pair of Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti advanced to the Daihatsu Yonex Japan Open 2019 finals at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, Tokyo.

Praveen/Melati beat their compatriots Hafiz Faizal/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja in the semifinals, with a score of 21-15, 21-18, on Saturday (July 27, 2019).

"We often have training together. Hence, we know their plus and downsides. They played good and tried their best," Praveen said as quoted on the badmintonindonesia.org website on Saturday.

However, Praveen noted that he and Melati had made good preparations for the semifinals, so that they could play their best and win the match.

"This time, in the semifinal round, we were more prepared. Moreover, we know they won yesterday and will play against us in the semifinals. Hence, we prepared ourselves to face them," he revealed.

In the finals, Praveen/Melati will play against the second-seeded mixed doubles pair of Wang Yi Lyu/Huang Dong Ping of China that had earlier outclassed fifth-seeded doubles mixed pair of Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying of China in 21-10, 21-6.

"In the finals, we will surely demonstrate our best play. We should stay on alert for their rallies. Hence, we must be defensive and focus on the game until it is over," he noted.

The finals of the badminton tournament Super 750, with a total prize of US$750 thousand up for grabs, will take place at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, on Sunday, July 28, 2019. Related news: badminton - indonesia, japan dominates indonesia open
