"Laws which are burdensome for the public must be amended, laws that will hinder our leap must be changed," Jokowi stated before the annual session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the parliament building here on Friday.
During August 2018 to July 2019, the House of Representatives (DPR) and the government have concluded the discussion on 15 bills, among others are law on state budget, international cooperation agreement, hajj organizing, healthcare, and acceleration of science and technology mastering.
The House, he said, in carrying out its duty to supervise the administration, has established eight supervisory teams, one Inquiry Committee, and 35 Working Committees in various sectors.
"One of it is the working committee for evaluation of general election 2019, to assure an improved quality in holding general elections in future," Jokowi said.
The House of Representatives has conducted fit and proper tests for a number of public officials.
"During 2019, DPR has given recommendation and approval for 34 Indonesian ambassadors to foreign countries. DPR has also continued its parliamentary diplomacy to strengthen Indonesia's foreign policy," he remarked.
In September 2018, the House has hosted the Second World Parliamentary Forum for Sustainable Development. It hosted the meeting of parliament leaders and representatives of five middle powers, namely Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia.
"The House has continued to carry out its mission of parliamentary diplomacy, both bilaterally and multilaterally, through its active participation in inter-parliamentary forums at regional as well as global level," Jokowi said.
