The business mission is expected to boost trade and investment relations with European countries and the United States and exchange knowledge to achieve the vision Indonesia 4.0.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will shortly hold a business mission to 14 European nations and the US to boost investment and trade ties and follow up on the ongoing trade agreement negotiations.

The business mission will prioritize the realization of the vision of "Making Indonesia 4.0" and transformation of Indonesia into one of the world's 10 largest economies in 2030, Kadin Deputy Chief for International Relations Shinta Widjaja noted in a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.

"The business mission is expected to enhance trade and investment relations with European countries and the United States and exchange knowledge to achieve the vision Indonesia 4.0," she remarked.

She noted that the business mission will lay due emphasis on multisectoral development encompassing agriculture, chemical industry, packing industry, food and beverage industry, logistics, shipbuilding, maritime port, furniture, and handicraft industry.

The other sectors are the textile and garment industry, medical equipment industry, tourism, water and waste management, infrastructure and construction, automotive, metal industry, aviation, retail, renewable energy, and creative industry.

The sectors rank the highest on the list of the government's development priorities to realize the vision of Making Indonesia 4.0 launched by the Industry Ministry.

The business mission to Europe will be held from September 13 to October 7 and cover visits to Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, Romania, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and France.

The business mission will be segregated into four main business forums to be conducted in Istanbul, Rotterdam, Frankfurt, and Milan. The other programs of the business mission will be visits to industries, focus group discussions, and business matching.

For instance, while in the United Kingdom, the business mission will undertake visits to the consumer goods manufacturing industry, retail industry, and aviation industry.

In the meantime, the business mission in the US will commence on September 23 and conclude on October 9 and cover visits to New York, Washington, Atlanta, and Los Angeles.

The business mission in the United States will entail business forums to be held in all destination cities as well as industrial visits and banquette.

Under the series of activities of the business mission, Kadin will hold a market access program to support small and medium enterprises exporting their products to Europe. This program will be held through the Indonesian Pop Up Store and Indonesia Eco Fashion Week.

The Indonesian Pop Up Store is a market penetration expo organized for four months in Stadsfeestzaal. During the event, the Indonesian delegation held a business meeting with distributors in Europe.

The Eco Fashion Week will encompass a market visit, meeting between Indonesian and European designers, fashion show, and business meeting. The fashion show will showcase clothing made of environment-friendly materials, such as natural fiber, natural coloring, and substitute materials.

Trade relations between Indonesia and 14 European nations are valued at US$27.8 billion, with Indonesia recording a surplus of $2.9 billion in 2018. In the meantime, trade with the US was clocked at $28.68 billion, with Indonesia enjoying a surplus of $8.26 billion.
