Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA) - The Central Java Police's stowage of explosives and bombs, located inside the province's Police Headquarters complex, was conflagrated by fire on Saturday morning, injuring a police officer and causing damage to several homes.

The wounded officer was promptly moved to the Banyumanik Public Hospital in Semarang for medical treatment, Chief of the Central Java Provincial Office Inspector General Rycko Amelza Dhaniel stated here on Saturday.

Several houses, located next to the police complex, were damaged by the explosions during the fire that broke out at around 7 a.m. local time.

Dahniel has instructed to conduct immediate repairs on the damaged houses. There were no reports of casualties or injuries among civilians living in areas located in proximity to the police mobile brigade complex.

"Everything must be repaired immediately. Do not wait for tomorrow," he noted.

Police investigation is underway into the cause of the fire.

Local residents living next to the location were unnerved on witnessing the massive fire and hearing the explosions.
