Jakarta (ANTARA) - An Ethiopian delegation visited the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Jakarta Tuesday to study how Indonesia has tackled corruption. "Today, KPK received an Ethiopian delegation including the attorney general and the minister counsellor. They have come to Indonesia to study ways to prevent corruption. They asked about the authority of the KPK in prosecuting, preventing, and investigating corruption cases," KPK Deputy Chairman Laode M Syarif said after receiving the Ethiopian delegation at the KPK Building in Jakarta.

Ethiopian Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (FEACC) Ayeligne Mulualem Tuafie said he came to Indonesia to study about the KPK as a respected and reliable institution which has a proven track record.

"This body has made good achievement in eradicating corruption and that is why we come here to share the best experience with KPK. This morning we held discussions with the KPK leadership. Yesterday, we held talks with the ombudsman. They shared certain information with us. We highly respect their hospitality."

KPK has the best experience in eradicating corruption in the country, Minister Counsellor of the Ethiopian Embassy in Jakarta, Gatlual Tut Khot, said.

"This experience can be conveyed to the Ethiopian government to see how KPK can eradicate corruption effectively. Indonesia and Ethiopian have longstanding bilateral relations. So this experience can be applied to different institutions such as the KPK," Gatlual said.
