Funding innovation and mobilization of new non-government funding sources has become a key point for the success to achieve the SDGs
Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Development Planning Minister/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Bambang Brodjonegoro underscored the criticality of non-state budget funding sources to implement programs in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"Funding innovation and mobilization of new non-government funding sources has become a key point for the success to achieve the SDGs," Brodjonegoro remarked at the opening of the SDGs Annual Conference 2019 here on Tuesday.

In a bid to achieve the development goals, he believes the government will require to involve stakeholders, including private companies and philanthropists, as well as get other funding sources.

Brodjonegoro opened up about the ministry’s plan to establish a financing hub to manage funding for SDGs programs, including those from alms, corporate social responsibility, philanthropy, and crowdfunding.

The financing hub will lead funding sources to achieve a specific target in the SDGs in line with their interests.

"We will attempt to align funding sources with the actions. That is the point of the SDGs financing hub," the minister remarked.

Brodjonegoro reiterated the significance of the central government, local governments, and the public actively participating to achieve the development goals. Related news: Bappenas holds Annual Conference on SDGs in Jakarta
