Mr. Prabowo's official stance on becoming the government's critical partner or internal partner will be decided through Gerindra's national meeting from October 15 to 17
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party Chief Patron Prabowo Subianto will reveal his party's stance on whether he intends to join the Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin administration on October 17 or stay out, the party's spokesman said.

"Mr. Prabowo's official stance on becoming the government's critical partner or internal partner will be decided through Gerindra's national meeting from October 15 to 17," Prabowo Subianto's Spokesman Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said in Jakarta Wednesday.

Prabowo, who lost the recent presidential elections, has called on Gerindra's executives across Indonesia to hold the national meeting in Hambalang, West Java Province, on October 15 and 17, for talks on the party's official stance, Simanjuntak said.

He will listen to perspectives and opinions of Gerindra's executives at the meeting and adopt their views into the party's final decision, Simanjuntak said.

Widodo (Jokowi) and Prabowo appeared set to walk down the path of reconciliation on July 13, 2019, when they met at the MRT Station of Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta and continued their conversation while boarding Jakarta's brand new MRT.

The duo also had lunch at a restaurant in a shopping mall in Senayan area. Following his meeting with Jokowi, Prabowo made his own political maneuvers by visiting Megawati Soekarnoputri at her residence on July 24.

The political maneuvers made by the two camps are in line with their common endeavor to promote reconciliation among Indonesians, who have been dragged into a phenomenon of a divided society over their tough rivalry in the elections.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) officially declared that Jokowi and Ma'ruf Amin, were the president-elect and vice president-elect of Indonesia following the Constitutional Court's (MK's) final ruling.

The MK's final ruling, which was declared on June 27, 2019, had paved the way to confirm the Jokowi-Amin victory based on the final tally that the KPU had officially announced on May 21, 2019.

The final tally declared by the KPU at around 1:28 a.m. local time on May 21 indicated the Jokowi-Amin pair had secured 85 million votes, or 55.5 percent of the national vote, as against the contenders, Prabowo-Sandi's, 68 million votes, or 44.5 percent.

Jokowi and Ma'ruf Amin are scheduled to be sworn in as Indonesia's president and vice president for the 2019-2024 presidential term on October 20, 2019. (INE)
