The Indonesian Police disclosed that Syahril Alamsyah, alias Abu Rara, 31, did not specifically identify Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Wiranto as the target of his terror attack.
Alamsyah has planned the attack targeting any government officials and security personnel, as he saw them as part of a government of tyrants, Indonesian Police spokesman Brig.Gen Dedi Prasetyo said.
The police anti-terror squad Densus 88 has conducted a preliminary investigation of Syahril Alamsyah following the attack against Wiranto on Thursday.

Alamsyah planned a terror attack following the recent arrest of Abu Zee, leader of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) Bekasi cell.
Then, Prasetyo said, he heard about Wiranto's visit to Mathla'ul Anwar University in Pandeglang, Banten on Thursday (Oct 10).
Alamsyah, who lives in a rented house some 300 meters from Menes Square, shared actions with his wife, Fitri Andriana, in carrying out the attack.
Wiranto and his entourage left the university for Menes Square, where a helicopter had waited to return to Jakarta.
"Syahril Alamsyah told his wife, 'I will attack that man (Wiranto). You stab the policeman near the man'," Prasetyo said.
Alamsyah stabbed Wiranto in his stomach. The attack also wounded local resident Haji Fuad.

Also, his wife Fitri stabbed Menes Police Chief Commissioner Dariyanto in his back with a scissors.
Prasetyo said there is no evidence that the attacker specifically prepared to attack Wiranto.
"It was spontaneous. He shared the task with his wife. He did not know much about the minister (Wiranto)," he said.
Wiranto sustained was injured in the attack.
The minister was shielded by his assistant during the knife attack. He was thereafter moved to Pandeglang District's Berkah Public Hospital, and later transferred to Jakarta.
The police are holding in detention Syahril Alamsyah, 31, and his wife, Fitri Andriana Binti Sunarto, 21.
