Jakarta (ANTARA) - The People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) looks ahead to Vice President Jusuf Kalla gracing the inauguration ceremony for elected President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at the Parliament building on Sunday with his presence.

"On behalf of leaders of the MPR, we expect Jusuf Kalla to be present at the inauguration ceremony of the elected president," MPR Speaker Bambang Soesatyo remarked in Jakarta on Thursday

During the meeting, the MPR leaders handed over a formal invitation to Vice President Kalla.

Vice President Kalla affirmed that he will attend the inauguration of the elected president.

Kalla also expressed keenness to witness the inauguration of his successor.

"Of course, I will attend the event to witness the inauguration of the elected president and my successor," he noted.

Vice President Kalla felt gracious for the invite extended by the MPR leaders to attend the inauguration ceremony of the elected president.

On the occasion, Vice President Kalla thanked the MPR and the House of Representatives (DPR) for their cooperation over the past five years.

The MPR leaders who attended the meeting comprised MPR Speaker Bambang Soesatyo and Deputy Chairs of the MPR: Ahmad Muzani, Syarif Hasan, Ahmad Basarah, Fadel Muhammad, Lestari Moerdijat, Zulkifli Hasan, Arsul Sani, and Jazilul Fawaid.
