Jakarta (ANTARA) - The relocation process of the capital and its development for the next five years is going according to plan, Minister of National Development Planning and Head of National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Suharso Monoarfa said. Suharso claimed to have studied the agency's prioritized agendas, including the one to restore Bappenas' identity as a clearinghouse, and a centralized platform for planning, process and evaluation of development.

"This is the clearinghouse of national planning and it is convergent," he said in the Bappenas office in Jakarta, Wednesday.

He also vowed to settle tasks regarding laws for the relocation of the capital city, which were previously conveyed by his predecessor Bambang Brodjonegoro.

Brodjonegoro said he had spoken with Suharso regarding the implementation of the law and the planning that would still need to be improved.

The Bappenas' vision as a clearinghouse and the task of completing the regulations were direct orders from President Joko Widodo himself, to make the bureaucracy more orderly and functional, Suharso said.

He will also soon weigh-in on the referral cities for the concept of the new capital, including Washington DC in the United States and Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan, as both cities are deemed to possess ideal characteristics. (INE)
