Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Communication and Informatics Ministry would speed up the development of the information technology industry in the country.

Minister of Communication and Informatics, Johnny G Plate, said at the Presidential Palace here on Thursday that he has in place some measures to speed up the development of information technology.

"There are some moves that need to be accelerated to proceed with the deregulation in the ministry," Plate said.

He added that the ministry would also focus on other issues including data sovereignty, cyber security and cyber crime.

The first plenary meeting of the Indonesia Moving Forward cabinet on Thursday did not specifically mention the ministry in the discussion, according to the minister.

"The Communication and Informatics Ministry was not specifically discussed during the meeting. But there are some moves that need to be accelerated, to proceed with deregulation in the ministry," he said.

During the plenary meeting, President Joko Widodo directed cabinet members to ensure the smooth implementation of his five priority programs. He also focused on measures to create jobs.

"That should become the main focus, the goal of all the government's measures is to create jobs," Plate said.
