President Jokowi will start with joining the plenary meeting.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will attend a series of leaders' meetings during the 35th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 2-4, 2019, Director General of ASEAN Cooperation, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Jose Tavares stated.

Jokowi will kick off the summit’s plenary meeting, to be held on Saturday, November 2, in which ASEAN members' leaders will congregate.

On the next day, the president plans to attend the opening ceremony and hold several high-level meetings of the ASEAN and its partner countries as well as organizations: ASEAN-China, ASEAN-India, and ASEAN-United Nations.

On Monday, November 4, other ASEAN-partners meetings will comprise the ASEAN Plus Three, ASEAN-United States, ASEAN-Japan, East Asia Summit (EAS), Regional Comprehensive Economy Partnership (RCEP) Summit, and a banquet meeting focusing on sustainable development.

Apart from the ASEAN meeting, President Jokowi will also hold bilateral talks with some leaders of friendly countries.

"New Zealand, Australia, India, Japan, as well as the UN Secretary General had requested to hold a bilateral meeting with President Jokowi," Tavares noted.

Prior to the high-level meeting, several meetings started on Wednesday, October 30, the preparations of ASEAN Meeting of Economic Senior Officials and ASEAN Meeting of Trade Negotiation Committee.

On October 31, ASEAN members’ trade ministers will take part in the meeting of the Economic Society Council. Furthermore, the meeting of the ASEAN Permanent Representatives’ Committee and Regional Economic Partnership Negotiation Committee will be held.

A day before the high-level summit, November 1, a high-ranking officials' meeting, ministerial meeting, RCEP preparation talk, and a formal dinner for ASEAN members' ministers of foreign affairs are also scheduled.
