Batusangkar, West Sumatra (ANTARA) - The Tanah Datar district administration has readied accommodation for a four-day overnight stay in Batusangkar for hundreds of cyclists participating in the international cycling race of Tour de Singkarak (TdS).

The participating cyclists will stay overnight at Batusangkar Town, Tanah Datar District, during the evenings of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth stages, Efrison, head of the Tanah Datar tourism office, remarked here on Monday.

"We have prepared decent accommodation adapted to the standards of the participants of Tour de Singkarak in Batusangkar," he stated.

The sports tourism event serves as a tourism promotion event and aids in boosting the local economy, as it can also increase the occupancy rate of hotels, he pointed out.

Joe Lubis, the manager of Emergia Hotel, affirmed that his hotel had prepared 110 rooms for the race participants and their officials as well as the organizing committee members.

The 2019 TdS was officially kicked off on Friday (Nov 1) evening in Pariaman, West Sumatra.

The cyclists were able to enjoy four main tourist destinations: the Gondoriah Beach, the scenic valley of Lembah Anai, one of the world's most striking villages of Pariangan Tanah Datar, and Pagaruyung Palace.

A total of 108 domestic and international cyclists grouped in 18 teams participated in the race that will conclude on Sunday (Nov 10, 2019).

The 11th TdS comprises nine stages spanning 1,378 km in length.

The 107.3-km-long first stage started from Pariaman and finished in Tanah Datar on Nov 2; the second stage, spanning 112.2 km, began from Pasaman and concluded in Bukittinggi on Nov 3; the third stage, stretching 129.9 km, started from Limapuluh Kota and finished in Padang Panjang on Nov 4; the 205.3-km-long fourth stage will start from Dharmasraya and conclude in Sawahlunto on Nov 5; the fifth stage, extending 206.5 km, will start from Payakumbuh and finish in Agam on Nov 6; the sixth stage, spanning 214.1 km, will begin from Dermaga Singkarak and conclude in Solok Selatan on Nov 7; the seventh stage, stretching 82.9 km, will start from Kayu Aro and conclude in Kerinci on Nov 8; the eighth stage, stretching 212.9 km, will start from Sungai Penuh and finish in Pesisir Selatan on Nov 9; and the 107.7-km-long nine stage will start from Pesisir Selatan and finish in Padang on Nov 10, 2019.

The 18 participating teams are Lasminingrat Picnic Garut, Padang road bike, BRCC Banyuwangi, Sapura cycling team, 7-eleven cliq-air 21 by Philippines, Foolad mobarakeh sapahan, Go for gold Philippines team, Thai continental team, Brunei pro cycling team, KFC cycling team, PGN cycling team Indonesia, Omidnia mashad team, NEX CCN Singapore, Velofit Australia, PCS team, Nice cycling team, Terengganu academy cycling team, and KGB Jakarta.
