Jakarta (ANTARA) - Eight countries participated in the Cyber Security IIndonesia (CSI) and Indonesian Fintech Show 2019 being held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) here on Nov 6-8.

The eight countries are the United States, Russia, Britain, South Korea, Poland, Hungary, Singapore, and Indonesia, the host nation.

Some 100 domestic and foreign companies engaged in financial technology and cybersecurity industries also took part in the expo.

The 2019 Cyber Security Indonesia Conference and Show is organized by Tarsus Indonesia, in cooperation with the Indonesian Cellular Telecommunication Association (ATSI), and fully supported by the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN), the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, the Defense Ministry, and the Indonesian Police.

The 2019 CSI Conference and Show was officially opened by BSSN Chairman Lt Gen (retired) Hinsa Siburian.

Tarsus Indonesia President Director Niekke W. Budiman stated that the show introduces the latest technology in cybersecurity and Fintech industry.

"The progress in technology is very rapid and without limit, from time to time, all over the world. This has motivated us to utilize technology to support us in our daily activities," he stated.

Cybersecurity has gained significance, as the usage of data and information sources have become instrumental.

ATSI Chairman Danny Buldansyah stated that Indonesia is a country targeted by cyberattacks.

The conference and show were expected to offer platforms to stakeholders, including the government and entrepreneurs, to respond to the problems.

The BSSN has reiterated the significance of collaboration among relevant stakeholders as a precautionary measure against cyberattacks that threaten the nation’s cybersecurity.

"I am upbeat that every stakeholder would develop capacity and capability to confront cyber threats in accordance with the needs and existing capability," BSSN Chairman Lt Gen. (retired) Hinsa Siburian noted in his opening remarks during the conference and show on Wednesday.

BSSN is open for those keen on sharing varied information on cybersecurity, he explained.

"We will forge collaboration through working groups, investigation, and joint researches on technology, trends, and cyber affairs, as well as capacity building by conducting cybersecurity training," he stated.

The conference, themed "In support of the nation's cyber and information security agenda," is organized yearly since 2015. CSI 2019 – Cyber Security Indonesia 2019, the 5th edition of the event being organized, is Indonesia’s leading cybersecurity trade event featuring a high-level conference, trade exhibition, and technology seminar.
