Following the bombing at the Medan police headquarters two days ago, based on our investigation, we have arrested 19 individuals.
Palu, C Sulawesi (ANTARA) - The police took into custody 19 suspected terrorists in several regions after a suicide bombing incident at the Medan city police headquarters in North Sumatra, Indonesian Police Chief Gen. Idham Azis stated.

"Following the bombing at the Medan police headquarters two days ago, based on our investigation, we have arrested 19 individuals," Azis stated here on Friday.

The suspected terrorists were arrested in North Sumatra, Riau, Ambon, Banten, and Central and East Java.

"We continue to work hard to expose the network linked to the perpetrator (of the Medan bombing)," he stated.

In the meantime, Indonesian Police’s spokesman, Insp. Gen. Muhammad Iqbal, remarked that the police had increased security at its stations nationwide after the attack in Medan.

"We have in place the standard operating procedures. On one hand, we have to offer good services to the public, but on the other hand, we have become a target (of the terrorist attack)," he remarked.

He appealed to the people to cognize and comply with the police's move to apply more stringent safety measures at its stations.

"We will thoroughly check those, who wear jackets or carry backpacks," he stated.

Bomber RMN allegedly blew himself up at the police headquarters in Medan on Wednesday, resulting in six people getting injured, though no casualties of fatally ill were reported.

Shortly after the incident, the police conducted a search of the suspect’s house and questioned his wife and her parents. The police officers confiscated some pieces of evidence, including two green baskets containing dozens of arrows, a pole, and some documents at the private residence of the accused.
