The ratification of the ASEAN Air Traffic Management Master Plan Version 2.0 is likely to be conducted in the next meeting
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia has signed two international agreements on air transportation during a series of meetings in Hanoi, Vietnam, Friday, The meetings were the 48th ASEAN Senior Transport Official Meeting (STOM), the 25th ASEAN Transport Ministers (ATM) Meeting and the ASEAN-Dialog Partners Meeting.

The first among the two documents was the Protocol to Implement the Eleventh Package of Commitments on Air Transport Services under the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Services. The second was Protocol 3 on the Expansion of Fifth Freedom Traffic between ASEAN and China of the ASEAN-China Air Transport Agreement.

In an official statement received here Saturday, Secretary General of the Ministry Djoko Sasono, noted that the forum has adopted several other agreements aside from the two documents.

Related to air traffic management, the ASEAN Master Plan could well be synchronized with the latest Global Air Navigation Plan International 2019 of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Following this, ASEAN Air Traffic Management Master Plan Version 1.0 needs to be updated with the new title of ASEAN Air Navigation Plan.

"The ratification of the ASEAN Air Traffic Management Master Plan Version 2.0 is likely to be conducted in the next meeting," Sasono said.

Indonesia also held a bilateral meeting with Vietnam during the 25th ATM, discussing the air connectivity of both countries, including a request from Indonesia to have a time slot for national air transportation companies to run flights from and to Vietnam.

Talks on the matter of fulfilling the pilot demand of the two countries were conducted as well, where "Indonesia has offered Vietnam's Civil Aviation Authority the opportunity to run Indonesia's pilot schools validation." (INE)
