Prabowo noted in a statement here on Friday that the cooperation will also encompass the quarantine of shrimp broodstock after Indonesia banned the import of broodstock species that may become potential sources of viral infection.
Head of Fish Quarantine and Fisheries Product Quality (BKIPM) Rina highlighted the importance of cooperation with Singapore to prevent the entry of shrimp broodstock to Indonesia.
"Singapore can assist Indonesia in the capacity building program to tackle shrimp disease. The BKIPM can work closely with Singapore's quarantine agency," she remarked.
Earlier on Thursday, Minister Prabowo and Rina received Singapore's Ambassador Anil Kumar Nayar at the Marine and Fisheries Affairs Ministry.
During the meeting, they discussed potential cooperation in the marine and fisheries sector.
Nayar noted that the cooperation is expected to boost bilateral relations.
