Jakarta (ANTARA) - No less than 47 thousand vehicles entered Jakarta through the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road on Christmas day, Wednesday. "This number showed an increase of 91 percent from the normal daily traffic of 25 thousand vehicles," Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Dwimawan Heru said in Jakarta, Thursday afternoon.

The number of vehicles was recorded from toll receipts at the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate.

Jasa Marga also noted that the highest traffic volume for the Christmas holidays in 2019 occurred between 5:00 pm and 5:59 pm local time, with 3,388 vehicles passing through the Cikampek Utama gate into Jakarta.

On the same day, the volume of eastbound traffic through the same gate was as high.

"As many as 47 thousand vehicles via the Cikampek Utama toll gate headed for Trans Java, went up 85 percent from the normal daily traffic of 25 thousand vehicles," he said.

On the day after Christmas, Thursday, Jasa Marga predicted that there would still be 36 thousand vehicles that are due to return to Jakarta via the gate in Cikampek Utama.

"This number increased by 48 percent from the normal daily traffic of 24,009 vehicles," he said.

Traffic flow to the east is predicted to increase again with 44 thousand vehicles expected to cross the Cikampek Utama gate to Trans Java direction.

"This showed an increase of 69 percent compared to normal daily traffic," he said.
