Jakarta (ANTARA) - Commissioner General Suhardi Alius, head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), has appealed to young preachers to propagate the message of peace, especially among members of the younger generation.

The message of peace can help fight radicalism that could trigger terrorism spread by irresponsible groups, Suhardi Alius stated after receiving an audience from the Central Executive of the Indonesian Tafsir-Hadith Student Communication Forum (FKMTHI) at the BNPT Jakarta office, Wednesday.

"Of course, currently, young preachers are needed to enlighten the younger generation," he remarked.

He believed young preachers can positively influence fellow youngsters.

He pointed to the harrowing trend of radical and terror groups brainwashing the younger generation.

"I think that we need them, our young preachers, to be able to influence and make the public, especially the younger generation, resilient and to develop immunity in facing this global dynamics," he stated.

FKMTHI Chair Achmad Sayuthi is upbeat about the forum synergizing with the agency to disseminate the message of peace.

"Of course, we will participate in the campaign for spreading across peace messages. If these 'right-minded' friends always carry messages of violence, then we will carry messages of peace," he added.
