Beijing (ANTARA) - Some 93 Indonesians are still in Wuhan, China, until Friday, 11 a.m. local time, or 25 hours after Hubei Province's capital was declared closed effective January 23, 2020, to prevent the new coronavirus from spreading.

"Until now, there have been no reports of Indonesian citizens in Wuhan City being infected with the coronavirus. All students are living in dormitories and are always part of the campus monitoring," Chairman of the Indonesian Student Association in China (PPIT) Wuhan Branch Nur Musyafak said in a statement on Friday.

Nearly all campuses in Wuhan have conducted various prevention measures by distributing free masks, liquid soap, and thermometers to every student.

PPIT Wuhan always coordinates with the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing and the Directorate for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun has asked all Indonesian citizens in Wuhan to not panic.

The Chinese government provides daily necessities for the residents of Wuhan during the closure.

Meanwhile, as of Friday, 830 people in 29 provinces had been infected with the new 2019-nCoV virus which causes severe pneumonia, the Chinese health authorities said.

Of that number, 25 people died and 34 were allowed to leave the hospital.

Of the 25 dead, 24 came from Hubei Province and one from Hebei Province.

Some 428 Indonesian citizens lived in Hubei Province, including 200 in Wuhan, according to data of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing.

But most of them had returned to Indonesia for the holidays that coincided with the Chinese New Year holiday season and semester breaks.
