Jakarta (ANTARA) - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto visited Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan's offices in Jakarta, Friday, to discuss Indonesia's plans to forge cooperation in weaponry with the United Arab Emirates.

"We just held discussions. He is going to hold a meeting with the Abu Dhabi minister of defense on February 24th there. There are plans to establish cooperation for manufacture of weaponry and drones," Minister Pandjaitan stated after the meeting at his offices in Jakarta, Friday.

Pandjaitan admitted to having initiated communications with Abu Dhabi, adding that the related officials will follow up on the measures.

He expounded that the cooperation plans center on the making of drones by Indonesia and wider into aerospace to armory, as well as ammunition.

"We will make the drones. Abu Dhabi was seeking a joint venture with Indonesia for technology development. We want to make sophisticated products," he expounded.

Following the meeting, Defense Minister Prabowo headed to his car. Although he had responded to several questions from reporters, he did not touch on the cooperation plans with Abu Dhabi.
