Probolinggo, East Java (ANTARA) - Four sub-districts in Probolinggo District, East Java Province, were flooded due to heavy rains falling from Saturday (22/2) afternoon to evening, according to the Probolinggo Disaster Mitigation Office (BPBD).

"Flooding and strong wind caused trees to fall in Leces, Gending, Tegal Siwalan, and Banyu Anyar Sub-districts, Probolinggo," Probolinggo BPBD Head Anggit Hermanuadi in Probolinggo said here on Sunday.

As the floods started to subside, BPBD officers and local residents jointly cleaned houses that were flooded.

The downpour caused Gending River to spill over its bank and damaged the river's embankment.

Flood waters reaching a height of up to 60 cm also cut off northern coastal road (pantura) section in Brumbungan Lor Village.
