Jakarta (ANTARA) - A COVID-19 suspected female patient, aged 37, who was undergoing treatment in an isolation room at the Sulianti Saroso Infection Hospital (RSPI) breathed her last here on Thursday.

"This morning at 8 a.m. local time, one patient died. (She) was seriously ill when she was sent here, though (now she has) died," Managing Director of RSPI Sulianti Saroso Mohammad Syahril stated here on Thursday.

The patient had undergone outpatient treatment at another hospital, and her health was not showing signs of improvement.

"The patient sent here from one of the government-owned hospitals was suffering from the condition of ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome), with severe pneumonia, and was on ventilator support," Syahri expounded.

"She came here last night and was given maximum therapy, but it did not work," he stated.

Meanwhile, results of the COVID-19 test conducted on the woman had yet to come out.

"It is still being studied carefully. The results are expected to be negative," he noted.
