Most of them have returned to work via video conferencingJakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi’s health is stable after he tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), a spokesman for coronavirus handling, Achmad Yurianto, said.
"Based on the hospital's report, his condition is stable and getting better, said the doctor who treated him," according to Yurianto, who concurrently is the Director General of Disease Control and Prevention of the Health Ministry, said here on Tuesday.
On Sunday (March 14), Sumadi became the 76th confirmed coronavirus patient. He was last seen attending the cabinet meeting on March 11 at the Presidential Palace.
Following his test result, President Joko Widodo and all cabinet members underwent medical check-ups for COVID-19 at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital on Monday (March 16).
"(All ministers) were checked and the results were already handed over to each of them. This was a general check up, they are not patients. Most of them have returned to work via video conferencing," Yurianto said.
He called on other people who had contact with Sumadi to conduct self-isolation and self-monitoring.
"Self-isolation and self-monitoring. Take notes if you have a higher body temperature, or you have any other symptoms, then call the public health center or hospital. If you do not show any symptoms, then it's okay. Take a good rest and eat a good diet," he said.
As of Monday (March 16) the number of coronavirus patients in Indonesia reached 134. Five of these patients have died and eight patients have recovered. The patients are in the cities of Jakarta, Tangerang, Bandung, Solo, Yogyakarta, Bali, Manado, Pontianak.
Coronavirus has infected 182,881 people in 115 countries, as of Tuesday, with 7,174 deaths and 79,886 patients recovered. China has recorded the highest number of cases at 80,881 with 3,226 deaths, followed by Italy (27,980) with 2,158 deaths, Iran (14,991) with 853 deaths and Spain (9,942).
Some countries that have imposed lockdowns, partially or nationwide, include Italy (since March 9), Denmark (March 13), the Philippines (March 12), Ireland (March 12-29), and Malaysia (March 18-31).
Lockdown was also ordered in China's city of Wuhan and several nearby cities that had become the epicenter of the pandemic. South Korea imposed a lockdown in its city of Daegu, while Spain locked down four cities, including Igualada, Vilanova del Cami, Santa Margarida de Montbui, dan Odena.
