Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort sprayed disinfectant fluid in the premises of its detention house to thwart the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Furthermore, the police resort is providing vitamins to detainees on a daily basis to boost their immunity against the virus.

"The step is taken to cut the chain of the spread of COVID-19 in which the number of patients testing positive for the virus has increased every day," spokesman for the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort First Inspector Sudarman stated on Friday.

The disinfectant fluid was sprayed in the detention house, starting from its entrance, visiting rooms, place of worship, and CCTV room to each block of the detention room, twice a week since the COVID-19 outbreak occurred in the capital.

The police will continue to spray disinfectant fluid in the detention room until the COVID-19 outbreak is completely overcome, he noted.

Jakarta has recorded the maximum number of COVID-19 cases among provinces in Indonesia.
