The total budget allocation for the handling of COVID-19 is Rp3.032 trillion.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government has stepped up the allocation of unpredicted budget fund by Rp2 trillion to Rp3.032 trillion, from Rp1.032 trillion earlier to contain the spread of COVID-19 outbreak.

"The total budget allocation for handling COVID-19 reaches Rp3.032 trillion," Chief of the Jakarta Provincial Financial Management Board Edi Sumantri noted in a statement released on Thursday.

The budget apportionment is real budget funding since its allocation has been signed in accordance with the rule, he pointed out.

Regulations laying the legal basis for the allocation of the budget fund comprise Gubernatorial Regulation No. 25 of 2020 on Amendment to Gubernatorial Regulation No. 162 of 2019 on the Breakdown of the Regional Budget of 2020 and Gubernatorial Regulation No. 28 of 2020 on the Second Round of Amendment to Gubernatorial Regulation No. 162 of 2019.

The budget allocation is sourced from the unpredicted budget fund, cancelled investment in several regional projects, especially infrastructure related to the holding of Formula E, and cancelled purchase of land.

The funding will later be utilized by the Health Office, Social Service Office, and Regional Disaster Mitigation Board (BPBD) to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Earlier, the provincial government had allocated Rp64 billion in unpredicted budget fund, through the Health Office, to handle and prevent the spread of COVID-19 on March 10, 2020.
