Tanjungpinang Mayor Syahrul is one of the COVID-19 positive patients
Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Riau Islands Province has increased by four to reach 27 as of Monday, according to the province's task force for the acceleration of COVID-19 handling.

Two of the new COVID-19 patients reside in Tanjungpinang City, while two others live in Batam City, Isdianto, chief of the province's COVID-19 task force, stated here on Monday.

"Tanjungpinang Mayor Syahrul is one of the COVID-19 positive patients," he remarked.

Thus, Riau Islands currently has 165 patients under surveillance (PDP), while the number of people under surveillance (ODP) burgeoned to 2,162, and the number of asymptomatic patients (OTG) stood at 686, he noted.

The province's COVID-19 related death toll stood at 14, including six people testing positive for COVID-19 and four individuals testing negative for the virus. Laboratory examinations are currently underway into the deaths of four PDP.

"Two patients have recovered, one of which is in Tanjungpinang City, while the other is in Karimun District," he stated.
