Jakarta (ANTARA) - Some 204 people testing positive for the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Jakarta had made full recovery as of April 17, 2020, according to the local health office.

Jakarta recorded a total of 2,819 confirmed coronavirus cases, while 248 people had died of the virus until April 17, 2020, Head of the Health Resource Section of the Jakarta Health Office Ani Pusparini noted in a press conference at the Jakarta City Hall on Friday.

Pusparini stated that 1,725 patients were receiving treatment at different hospitals in the capital, while 643 others were conducting self-isolation at home. "A total of 822 people are awaiting the results of laboratory testing," she revealed.

Some 3,379 people are under surveillance for COVID-19, of which 596 are still under monitoring, while 3,183 have been monitored, she stated.

The number of patients under surveillance reaches 2,867, of which 1,374 are still receiving medical treatment, while 1,493 have completed medical treatment, she remarked.

To thwart the spread of COVID-19, the Jakarta provincial government has imposed large-scale social restrictions, effective from April 10 to 22, 2020.

The large-scale social restrictions were based on Jakarta Governor's Decision No. 33 of 2020 aimed at containing the coronavirus outbreak in the capital, with a population of over nine million.
