"After a study conducted by the technical team, we agree to the proposal to apply the PSBB measure in Gowa District. Hence, the PSBB can be implemented there," Putranto noted in a press release here on Thursday.
Approval concerning the implementation of PSBB in Gowa is stipulated in Decree of the Minister of Health Number HK.01.07/Menkes/273/2020, dated April 22, 2020.
Putranto gave the approval on the basis of epidemiological studies and considerations on regional readiness in implementing the policy.
According to the minister's decision, Gowa can enact the PSBB for the longest incubation period and can extend it in the event of the continued spread of COVID-19.
The health minister has, so far, approved the application of PSBB in areas where COVID-19 has spread, including Jakarta; Bekasi Municipality, Bekasi District, Depok, Bogor Municipality, Bogor District, in West Java Province; Tangerang Municipality, Tangerang District, South Tangerang Municipality in Banten Province; and Pekanbaru City in Riau Province.
In addition, similar approvals to implement PSBB were also granted to Makassar City in South Sulawesi Province; West Sumatra Province; Banjarmasin City in South Kalimantan; City of Tarakan in North Kalimantan; and Surabaya City, Sidoarjo District, and Gresik District in East Java Province.
However, the minister's approvals are yet pending for the Gorontalo provincial government, Bolaang Mongondow District in North Sulawesi, Fakfak District in West Papua, Sorong City in West Papua, Palangka Raya City in Central Kalimantan, and Rote Ndao District in East Nusa Tenggara, as they had yet to meet the prerequisites for the measure, which entail budget allocation to help those bearing the economic brunt of the policy.
