This aims to support the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration to prepare DPGs in taking preventive measure against COVID-19 transmission by producing cloth masks, according to an official statement published on Monday.
This year, the agency accompanies some 31 DPGs across the West Kalimantan region, while for mask production, there are four of them: the villages of Penjalaan and Satai Lestari in North Kayong District as well as Lambau Village and Sarang Burung Danau Village in Sambas District.

"Each of them produced 2,500 masks," Hermawansyah, the regional official of DPG, noted, adding that mask production was undertaken on account of the sewing skills of the women group members and sufficient sewing machines.
The masks were produced in only five days, with villages' midwives assisting the tailors to make standardized products to later be distributed freely to people living in the surrounding areas.
