Yurianto said the number of patients under supervision is pegged at 12,022, and those under surveillance stands at 65,748.
Data shows 415 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 as of Tuesday, taking the total count to 23,165.
All provinces in Indonesia have reported COVID-19 infections, with as many as 406 districts and cities affected by the pandemic.
The government has carried out PCR tests and molecular rapid tests on 264,098 specimens from 188,302 people, with positive confirmations in 23,165 cases and negative in 165,137 cases.
Yurianto asked the public to familiarize themselves with the new normal norms, namely clean and healthy behavior that has been recommended so far.
"People must inculcate the discipline to wash hands with soap, use masks, keep (safe) distance, stay at home, and not travel or return to their hometown," he advised.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan had earlier reiterated that public adherence to the health protocol during the implementation of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) would be paramount for the capital city in transitioning to the new normal amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The decision on whether or not to extend the PSBB is neither determined by the government nor experts, but the public’s behavior in regions imposing PSBB. If the public can adhere (to the health protocol), the PSBB can be lifted. If not, then we have to extend it," Baswedan stated.
The Governor said he was optimistic that the third phase of PSBB would be the last one, if the public follow the government's call to stay at home until June 4, 2020 to help curb COVID-19 transmission.
"Hopes ride high on June 4 being the end of the PSBB. We can thereafter start transitioning to a new normal. We will announce the protocol in each sector, including for activities in the economic, worship, social, and cultural areas. Hence, we can migrate to a new normal while preventing the transmission of COVID-19," Baswedan remarked.
President Joko Widodo reviewed the readiness of public facilities at the Hotel Indonesia Traffic Circle Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Station, Central Jakarta on Tuesday morning, as people braced for a new normal amid the continuing pandemic.
During his visit to the MRT station, the President was accompanied by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, Indonesian Police Chief, Gen. Idham Azis, Chief of the Indonesian Military, Air Chief Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto, and president director of MRT, William Subandar.
Tjahjanto noted that the TNI and police have readied their personnel to enforce the PSBB regulation. (INE)
